Price Check: Selling system to parents

Decided to get rid of my desktop i was using as a file server, Slimserver and was going to run Media Portal PVR as well.

My parents need a new system, theirs is an old Celeron 400 POS. I've already lent them my 19" LCD as their old 19" CRT went "pht" a couple of weeks ago.

What do you think of the following:
    19" Viewsonic LCD (non-widescreen)
AMD Athlon "Mobile" XP2500-M Barton 266FSB
    Asus V9400 Magic GeForce MX4000 128MB DDR TV-Out
    Abit NF7-S v2.0 nForce2
Antec Sonata Piano Black Quiet Case
AcoustiPack Pre-cut Kit For Antec Sonata
    512MB RAM
    200gig Seagate Hard Drive
    Pioneer DVR-107

And as usual, lifetime support from me (nothing new there).

Was thinking about £450. The monitor itself is still £260 on Scan (where i got it originally).

The low cost PCs from supermarkets have a roughly similar spec, and cost about £350. Considering yours has a premium case with silencing kit, and (presumably) comes with on site support, then £450 sounds fair.

However you could get something brand new and more modern with 1gb of ram, dual core and 19" tft from Dell for £450. I would say closer to £350 than £450 for your system, it just depends on how much you want them to pay really.

£350 is probably a reasonable price, split about 50/50 base/lcd. Though as they're family the price you charge is largely up to you! can't be ripping off one's parents now, can we

Hang on the guy's offering lifetime technical support (same business day) - software and hardware to boot. I'd be looking at £900+ if I were you!!!! Parents are quite demanding you know!!!!!

Nice case btw- have one myself.

Why not set your parents up with an Ebay account and get them to bid for it against others????

Seriously it's a nice system and you're asking a fair price.

Think have to charge £380-£450 just due to the monitor being included.

Its nice you get to SELL your system to your parents.. my mom would just say, 'we need a PC in the living room for your dad, we'll have yours.. you can go get a new one..' and that comes with unconditional lifetime super warranty that includes upgrades, repairs and techspeak..

Bearing in mind your folks have probably spent a fortune bringing you up, surely a freebie computer wouldn't be out of the question?

All comes free with on-site, under-2-hour technical support, software updates, monthly system maintenance, and even dust cleaning.

they've already had several systems off me in the past. Along with systems for my brother, cousins etc etc. In fact, other than buying half of my first PC for a combined birthday and christmas present when i was 15 (i stumped up the rest), this will be the first PC they have ever bought

We settled on £400 for everything. I just need to get the software on it sorted out now.
