Corsair RAM Compatibility

OK.. here is one for you memory buffs.. I am going to upgrade from 1GB RAM to 2GB.. I currently have the following:

Corsair TwinX Pro 1024MB 3200LL (2X512)

I know that memory has to be compatible.. so would the following work alongside the above:

As fair as I can see it is the same sort of thing, apart from no mention of Low latency (maybe the description has changed)? Seems like a nice cheap memory upgrade to get to 2GB.

so basically what i am asking is can i mix the following:

TWINX1024-3200C2 XMS3200 1024MB 2-3-3-6 2x184 DIMM Black

TWINX1024-3200C2PT XMS3200 1024MB 2-3-3-6 2x184 DIMM Platinum

TWINX1024-3200 XMS3200 1024MB 3-3-3-8 2x184 DIMM Black

TWINX1024-3200PT XMS3200 1024MB 3-3-3-8 2x184 DIMM Platinum

as they are all TWINX1024-3200 1024, even though they have slightly different characteristics?

My answer would be "Yes", although your system would plump for the lower/slacker of the 2 sticks timings.

corsair have 4 ranges:

normal e.g twinx1024-3200 (timings 2.5-3-3-7 or something, same as value ram)
C2 e.g twinx1024-3200C2 (2-3-3-6)
LL e.g twinx1024-3200LL (2-3-2-6 or 2-2-2-6 for some)
XL e.g twinx1024-3200XL (2-2-2-5)

then you can have 3 heatspreader designs that make no difference at all:
normal (black) e.g twinx1024-3200C2/3200LL/3200XL
PT (platinum) e.g twinx1024-3200C2PT/3200LLPT/3200XLPT
Pro (black w/green sticker and LEDs) e.g 3200C2Pro/3200LLPro/3200XLPro

so in your picture you have C2Pro whereas your ram now is LLPro so youll lose some timings

in reality youll probably be mixing chip models whatever you do (they have loads of different chip brands under those heatspreaders), btw you cant look under the heatspreader or youll void the warranty

but it shouldnt affect your dual channelness at all, if you really want to match things you can look on houseofhelp support forums, go to the corsair support section in a forum called enthusiasts only, there you can find out your ICs by giving your serial numbers
