Just a quick question guys -
Should the chipset heatsink almost burn your finger when you touch it on the KN8 Ultra (abit)? Its at a rather uncomfortable temperature and I'm wondering if this has something to do with my limited overclocking?
Cheers![]()

Yes mate, its got a fan but it really is quite hot. While you can hold your finger on it... I can only liken it to touching a radiator hose in a car say ten minutes after turning it off!
Whats the temp of it?
Its good that its hot! Means its working![]()
The DFI NF4 Ultra-D uses a similar chipset and it isnt as hot as you pointed out.. It does feel abit warm-ish.. but no where near the extent that it burns my fingers..
Perhaps a weak fan? or run the chip on a lower voltage and dump your overclock.. see if those help..
Me want Ultrabook
I couldn't tell you the temp of it as the KN8 ultra doesn't report it. All I know is that its not a comfortable heat. I could try get a thermometer on it lol![]()
I put a zalman passive heatsink on minbe as the fan was so noisy and i've had no problems
Just make sure that you've got adequate ventilation in your case...even more so if it's already running very toasty.
Have you actually raised chipset voltage? Can't see why it should be particularly hot if you haven't.
Hello mate, sorry for late reply only just got home from workI have the OCUK tornado or storm (cant remember which) eitherway it has a total of 6 case fans so the case can be made cool enough when I want it to be!
I shall run them all and see if it makes any difference
