About to build new system, any tips ? It's built, but......

Hi, I have just got all the parts I wanted for my new system and wondered if anyone could give me a few tips before I get cracking.
I haven't built a system in ages (the socket A pc I am on now) so am a bit behind the new tech. Here's what I have:
    Lian Li PC7+
    DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra-D
    AMD X2 3800
    2x1gb OCZ DDR400 XTC Gold
    XFX 7900GT
    WD Sata 2 250gb hard drive w/ 16mb cache
A64 freezer pro (gonna have to rotate this to point towards rear of case but the clip doesn't feel very secure)
    Hiper 580w modular PSU

A few of things I wondered at first, has anyone got experience of rotating the A64 freezer pro cooler ? I've rotated the clip 90 degrees but it feels very loose.
Can you have two DVD writers on the same IDE channel ?
And also on the DFI boards which Ram slots do I use to run the memory in dual channel ?

    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks

Oops, should I have put this in the help forum ? Sorry.

Yep you can put two dvd writers on the same channel no problem. The only chance of a speed reduction is if you copy directly from one to the other, but it's not really a problem, unlike if you did the same with two hard drives on the same channel.

Otherwise you know the drill - discharge static, only small drop of thermal goop etc. etc.

Is it worth partitioning the hd ? Say have one partition fow Windows, one for games and apps and one for data storage ?

If using Arctic Silver DragonStar it is best to put a rice grain amount on the center of the cpu and then place the heatsink directly down (i always give a few degrees twist before fastening the heatsink down).

Regarding partitioning TomViolence i'd say if only have one hard drive then yes but if have more than one I would suggest keeping one h/drive for Windows and use the other drives for storage etc.

Ok, system now built and so far so good. The only thing thats stopping me progressing is Windows XP pro. I have a full legit version which won't install as it says it's an upgrade disc and I have to put in a Xp homoe, win 98 etc disc in to verify.
It's never done this before, anyone know why ?
    Thanks.

Yeah, I installed it a few times when doing formats on my old machine, now when I go to install it asks for another disc.
I've got an original Win98 disc somewhere but I'll be damned if I can find it.
