    GET THEM!!!!!!!!

Proud owner of a set of Z-680's here and I've been computing probably longer than most of you demi-geeks have been walking this green Earth,,,,,wink.
OK...so I'm an "old fart ",,,,,reason I make this point is in all my years of contributing to the "BOTTOMLESS PIT" we all call having computers as a hobby,I can NOT think of a better piece of equipment or peripheral I have purchased for my system than these Z-680's.They are at theeeeeeee top of my list.

TRULY remarkable and total control as well it gives you........and a week ago I added on a Audigy2 ZS Platinum Pro to the mix and let's just say.....I AM IN HEAVEN!!!!

I must admit...I had 2nd and 3rd thoughts in the store as to maybe if it was a bit too much for what I expected...price wise ....but after using them now for about a month........they are worth every red cent.

As far as the fellow complaining about the hissing....I havent noticed any at all...mind you I have the newer POD too...not the first edition when they came out and many were complaining about.

So if you have the nerve to go for it....then go for it.....these are just great speakers.

Right, I am not happy. I ordered them from SaverStore Friday as they said they had stock, then on monday they said they didnt, but then they would be getting stock back in Tuesday, then it changed to monday, great I though, now I get an e-mail saying they don't know if they are actually getting stock back in at all.

****tards. Right, anyone know where I can get these for under £250? (Preferably also with next day delivery).

EDIT: Just ordered them for £239 including delivery from TracePrice.co.uk.

    Hi NightShade737

    Know your problem very well.
Everytime i have ordered anything from them even just small items they have said they are in stock even on there web site and by email only for me to wait 3/4 days for postman nothing turns up send emails no reply ring them up 1/2 hr waiting oon phone get hold of some DumHead who then informs me they have no stock and are still waiting for item to come in, so i cancel and move on.
I have given them 4 orders over the last 12 months or so but have never been able to complete.
Don`t even look at the Site anymore.

well NS.......if they say you are degrading, then they have about as much crediblity as a farmer with no cows, land and living.
My guess is they havent ever had the oppurtunity to give them a decent listen,,,,,,which is too bad for them.Trust me......you made a great choice in speaker.

Personally if I was going to be spending a lot of money of a surround speaker set, I'd go for a proper audio setup rather than something from the glorified pc speaker brigade..

Actually.. Have you listened to both set of speakers? Or any other speaker in that range?

If not, then on what basis are you saying that (other than you probably own the Z-680)?
I am sure they are by no mean awful. But the VideoLogic DTS -is- a highly regarded set of speakers, all round (the lack of support for 5.1 analog was the only reason I didn't get those speakers). Based on the review I've seen, the Z-680 is reknown to have powerful (but not necessarily accurate) bass rather than its clarity/neutrality of the sound (which probably isn't awful for a MM speaker, but it might not be as good as other sets of the same range).

Having said that, I don't think that for games, exagerated bass would be too bad.

Well they should be arriving some time today so I can give the final word on what they sound like (I just hope I dont get a version 1 pod).

In the end I just have to look at it that I am getting a nice looking set of speakers, they wont sound too bad, they'll decode my DVD's, let me play 5.1 games and use DPLII.

Bass is a bad thing for me btw due to my location.

Lack of support in what regard?...analog is analog!!!!!

And checking out the Videologic I just have to look at one thing...the price. They are TWICE as much as the Logi's and we are speaking here about PC speakers....NOT home theatre speakers that can be used for the PC.

I know that, and they have also been out for years, so it proves they are a good set.

Analog IS NOT Analog. The Logitechs have SIX analog inputs, Front Left Right, Rear Left Right, Centre and Sub. The Videologics just have a standard Stereo input meaning that they will only do Stereo from an analog source.

Yes the Videologic speakers are expensive.

But if you look hard enough, you can find some decent bargain for them.

    I saw the Digitheater-Platinum for £200 a while back.
I was a mouse click away from ordering that.. The only reason I didn't was because of the reason NS is wanted a new set of speakers now.

The next contender was the Megaworks 550 which I've put off because 1) I was going to buy a new PC and hence didn't want to spend too in one go and 2) the Gigaworks was announced already.

Are you sure that that was the DigiTheatre DTS Platinum, or just the DigiTheatre Platinum? Huge difference between the systems.

I had been put off by the Gigaworks for a few reasons, firstly it seemed they were only going to be 6/7.1 which would be a problem as I have no where to put the speakers, and secondly they are most likely to be expensive for a while due to having a new item price premium put on them.

I'm off to work in canuckland but I suspect once you get them today NS and give em a listen....you'll be pleased....the DVD-Audio is just great thru these speakers. If you are into games,Call of Duty is just unreal.
Pretty sure you'll be getting a set with the new POD so no worries there.
