    P4 Question

    Hey guys i have a P4 Chip 2 gig and want to know weather its the 553 fsb or the 800fsb hwo do i find out? Plus with is this lickly to overclock too?

    Well i was hoping to just turn the multiplyer up in that case i dont need very good ram do i? I am going to use some ddr 2100.

    Most ram will go beyond it's capabilities but whether it remains stable or not i don't know.

    P4's are multiplier locked so you'll have to up the bus speed. Not all motherboards allow this so you may not be able to overclock at all. you would be extremely unlucky though if that were the case.

    If its a 2Ghz, it'll be neither, they were only available in 400mhz bus models.

    Oh right ok then does the bus speed make that much difference?

    Itll make a difference to memory bandwidth, and if that chip isnt a northwood...if its a Willamete then it wont clock very well at all, if its a northwood itll clock quite well!
