Go for the 2504C, linky: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=247245
They're very nice drives.
Buy them for all of my systems at the moment.
SPCR rates them too.
im gonna take it that its a unanamoius samsung then
It's a shame they ony go up to 250gig really. Might have been interested if they had 4-500gig versions
Hitachi is good too (T7K250/7K250), don't think 7K400/7K500 is as quiet though.
My 4 Hitachis together is less noisy than a 7200.9

I have a 200 spin point and its lovley and quiet
36GB raptor not so
I've got six spinpoints, they've been running in raid5 for the last 4 years - no issues at all!

Seagate or Samsung
|| Q9450 @ 3.40Ghz || Maximus Formula X38 || 4GB OCZ PC2-8000 XTC ||
|| 768MB 8800GTX OC || 500GB Seagate || 2TB Western Digital || 24" Dell ||
I also have a Hitachi which I believe is the same as mentioned above. I can't hear it exept for when it purrs switching heads every 15 mins or so.
Why? They are only about £55 for 250gb now so 500gb for £110 is a bit of deal compared to one 500gb disk for £180ish. Systems these days can handle a shedload of drives so I would have thought the saving was worth itOriginally Posted by Funkstar
not so good if you want to put them into single drive NAS boxes. It also means twice as much power usage (Spinpoints and WD Caviars are both rated at 9.5W peak)
Seagate or Samsung in one of these babies, http://www.quietpc.com/gb-en-gbp/pro...ns/quiet-drive, i dont think you get much quieter
Fair point, I always forget that pc's have some use other than for gaming!Originally Posted by Funkstar
