well, unless you have THAT much money Id save some of it!

a PPU?! lol! not until there is actually a USE for the PPU! thats a lot of money, and surely the price will only drop when there are more people using it!

and surely itll be a little more cost effective to buy two smaller drives instead of a single super-duper 750gb data disc?!

    you are lucky though!

If that was me and id had that-much cash, id not get a single 24" screen, but get two good quality 19 or 20inch units for the same-ish price!

i dunno maybe because im a student i like to look after my money a little more, but this just seems like you are a very rich person!

I wish i had the money for it too!

Its for a mate who seems to have an endless supply of money. I had a job getting him to downgrade for an fx62 and two 7900gtx in sli !!

He also wants the 750GB HDD for some crazy reason "i might as well"

But anyway im making money out if it so thats what matters

Also he wants the one monitor - i managed to convice him a 24" was a better choice than the 30"

the obvious question is why an SLI board with an ATi card?
& 3Gb RAM seems an odd amount.

Well, Buff's question, and ditch the 150Gb Raptor & get 2x74Gb Raid 0

Or if hes rich - 2x150Gb Raptors Raid 0 - just because you can

EDIT - Why 3gb of memory - get 2 and then 2 more when vista comes out?

I may change it to a more normal size HDD and Raid 0 150s, ill see what he says.

The sli version is only £10 more and it will make it more upgrade friendly mabe.

EDIT: im not sure about the RAM, what effect would the extra gig give?

Ditch the crucial ram and get the Corsair beasts off of scan, it will come out cheaper (no point buying overly expensive RAM unless you want to overclock a lot).

even if you want to OC a lot, the use of dividers is a godsend!

    I think dual 150s + a 400gb SATA drive would suffice!

the RAM - 3gb just seems like a weird amount, and youll need 2X1gb and 2X 512mbs - not the best for getting the most out of dual channel (it does exist on the DDR2 platform doesnt it?!)- geil, mushkin, OCZ, patriot, corsair.

also id not get the x1900, rather a single 7900GTX would do him more than just great and are not quite as expensive.

any money saved that must be spent could be spent on a lian-li case and fitting it with watercooling, this would make for such a greater computer experience with some degree of quietness; or phase-change (bit extreme if not OCing though).

its just i dont think it makes sense to ever spend this amount on a PC unless its a workstation as its going to depreciate so rapidly its crazy. spend the money a holiday!

well, have fun ! just wish i knew someone who would spend so much on a PC! its great!

They got cheap Seagate ext hdd in ebuyer just now (Think its 75 quids). Amazed he'd shell 120 quids on a 250G ext.

750G HDD is way overpriced. I would rather get 4x320G RAID0+1 for the same price for increased speed and security (The eclipse-62 fits 5 hdd in the bay)

And why 3GB not 2G/4G? 2x512 + 2x1G doesn't match well IMO (512M sticks probably can overclock slightly higher). If he is using 32Bit win I would understand but with a PPU I think he's going for 64bit, am I wrong?

Im gunna suggest that he get 2GB instead.

and the 2x raptors. and lower big HDD

Also i want to order all from scan so the 7900gtx would cost the same and is not as good so why change?

Also im a bit unsure how its gunna handle games at the hi res of the monitor?

Also after reading CustomPC im gunna try and get him not to include a PPU, and ill just fit one for free if he ever wants one.

It is a bit of a crazy spec but he also owns a sony vaio TX (the ultra mini ones) so as you can tell he jsut has money to spend on this stuff.

If he wants to spend the extra money, give him the 30" screen, the 2x 7900GTXs, the Harddrive etc.

But upgrade to 4gb RAM (or indeed downgrade, but this guy seems to like upgrading), and get XP Pro instead of Home aswell!

All of the components look good, the only thing I would consider is do you really need to spend that much now?

For a single card the XTX is definately the way to go. I would also think about getting something like the VF-900 for cooling it as it works much better than the stock version and the noise level is definately quieter.

For the processor if you want to overclock then you could get something for half that price and get the same performance. You also haven't mentioned cpu cooling? Again depends on if you overclock and if you want silence.

Motherboard - We have no idea how the AM2 boards will be so can't offer any advice. Sli boards usually give you more features, especially with this sli memory crap nvidia has brought out.

PSU - Considering the stats of your system that should do fine, might be pushed with x1900xtx crossfire but then you have an sli board.

Ram - 3gb is probably a complete waste of money over 2gb. You won't need more than 2gb for anything in xp so get 2gb now then buy more when vista comes out. Ram will be cheaper and better performance by then.

HDD - 150gb raptor a good call, 750gb seagate over rated and over priced. Will also be a bitch to back up with that much data.

Phyx- Contentious, i would not buy it now but wait until you get some games that actually use it. By then you will know if you need it and the price will have gone down.

Fans- Amber fans are fine, quiet but low airflow. Think about getting a fan controller to keep them even quieter.

Monitor - Good call although why not the 30" screen?

    Other accessories are personal preference.

I would get xp pro or mce over home.

Looks like you will have a nice system but you could review a few things to save some pennies and get a nicer monitor etc etc

One other thing to consider would be Conroe, it will be out soon and should shaft any AMD platforms when it does arrive.
