True 24hr prime stable tends to be the accepted standard but whats most impressive is that it's doing that speed on only 1.46v and it's dual core!!!

I really think that cpu is stellar one & would be interested to see if it can go higher with more volts.

I only really got the time for 12 hours. 3ghz has done 12 hours at 1.4v and I will try 12 hours at 3.1 this weekend. My mobo maxes out at 1.47v I can do a mod for up to 1.65v but am gonna settle for 3.1. Cheers

What motherboard is that? Sound like an Asus if it maxes at 1.47, although mine can't do 345 FSB (I think it craps at 315, though I've not tried again since I updated my bios).

Anyway, congrats on getting the big 3G. Did you have to go through several chips to get a good chip as this?

(Irrespective of the steppings, very few 165 does 3G)

Yeah its an MSI K8N SLI platinum. Unfortunately this is the only K8N MSI board that is limited to 1.47v all the others go up to 1.6v. It is a bios problem but no fix available. It took about 12 dual core optys 165's and 170's to get this speed but sold all the others for a little profit. If anyone else is looking for 3g then go for 165's either CCB1E or CCBBE avoid CCBWE and 170's as you will have little or no chance.

    Cheers
