Hi Folks
I need a little assistance with my Bios settings. I have successfully assembled my SD31P, which has the following components:
- Intel P4 3.0Ghz 800FSB
-Corsair 1Gb DDR2 XMS2-5400 4-4-4-12 2x512mb 240pin DIMM Black XMS2
- WD 160Gb SATA for Operating System (Win XP Pro)
- Samsung 250GB SATA for Data storage
- IDE DVD Writer (set as Master)
- Gainward GeForce 6200 TurboCache, PCI-Express, supports 256MB
Q1. What should I set the CPU clock speed to? (range is 133 to 355) The default was 200Mhz.
Q2. A little confused about the SATA master/slave thing. This is the first time I have used SATA drives. I've got one drive connected to SATA1, and the other to SATA3.
Q3. Should the SATA mode be on IDE, RAID or AHCI?
Q4. Should the On-Chip SATA Mode be ENHANCED MODE or SATA Only Mode? (I'm guessing Enhanced Mode)
Q5. I've noticed that the initial display that comes up when you boot the PC has disappeared. It's the one which shows what CPU, memory and drives are installed, and displays other info. It shows only once at the first boot-up, but then as soon as I change anything in the bios, that beginning dispaly does not show, unless I clear the CMOS?
Incidently, the first time I boot-up the PC, it displayed a message saying "CMOS Checksum Error - loading defaults" or similar! The CPU, memory, hard drives and optical drive were displayed correctly.
Is there a website that has more detailed information about CMOS Bios settings?
Many thanks in advanced for any advice.
