lc11 soundgraph imon VFD not working?

I've got a brand new silverstone lascala lc11 (media version) case and am having a little trouble with the bundled VFD/remote (Soundgraph iMon)

The remote can start the pc up (i.e. the remote receiver picks up the power-on signal) but nothing else, and the VFD never lights up. The instructions manual is a little confusing as it shows a connection between a red/orange twin-wired power cable from the psu connecting to something from the VFD, but there is no connection from the VFD to connect to? There is however, an undocumented 3-wire set coming from the VFD to the ATC power connector - I think it's the standby segment of the power-brick.

Can anyone help?

Okay, I've tried the "latest" drivers for the imon ... they (as did their predecessors) cause nasty conflicts with the ATi radeon drivers, particularly cli.exe

my pc is randomly rebooting, hanging at shutdown, generally sluggish

not good :(
