About LinkBacksconnected everythin up, soon as power cable goes into psu, a red led comes on by the connecters for hdd and power led's. i think the led is labbeled 061c. thx for any help.

IIRC that little red LED is simply there to remind you that current is still flowing through the mobo so turn off the PSU before adding or removing anything. That aside is th emobo powering up or does it just seem dead? Recheck all of your connections (esp power button on the case). Try them both ways around.

ok NEW problem:
I'm tryin to install WinXP. so im booting from cd, checks the IDE drives, finds dvd drive, then checks that raid SATA things, finds 80gig seagate. then windows install starts. It then says, it cant find a hdd drive, so i have to restart. am i missing the obvious?

You missed the bit where it asks for 3rd party RAID drivers???
i press f4 and ctrl+s and nothin happens, do i need to use a ps2 kb for it?
You tried accessing the BIOS yet? It might not be detecting the keyboard as you say. Try a ps2 keyboard if you can.
ok, i doine the raid menu (altho i cudnt do nowt as its says i onlky have 1 hdd). so i did that low format thing. am i have supposed to plug the sata drive straight into the mobo, and a sata power cable and nothin else into it?:/
You need to have the power and data leads plugged into the drive. Check the boot sequence points to SATA and that it is enabled in the BIOS (IIRC set 1ms wait). Then when you install Windows you should select YES to install a SCSI/RAID driver and insert the floppy disk (or download the latest one form manu's website). It should all then proceed smoothly so you should simply install the latest hw drivers (esp mobo) once Windows has installed. You should use nVidia's own v3.13 drivers but try both the SW (ie M$) and nVidia IDE drivers to see what works best. That should work fine for you.
Bah, ordered my NF7 lastnite to go with the seagate SATA drive I have, planning a reinstall for LANage this weekend, dont tell me I'm gonna spend all of thursday arsing about with the damned thing...
you should be ok trig aslong as u got a floppy drive, soon as i installed that it went fine (except for my super scratched xp cd)
