    939 uATX advice

    hey chaps,

im potentially going to shift my sanny over to my x-qpack as a wee lan-rig and was wondering what the best 939 motherboard woud be, my budget is about £50 i know its not much, but hopefully ill be able to get something for that price

also looking for recommendations for a new motherboard and processor, as ill have to get rid of the socket A stuff that ive got atm. budget for that project is 220-250 most likely

    cheers guys,

yeah the gigabyte is the one i just bought, getting it from BUFF so its a bit cheaper

if you wait until conroe is out, it will disspate far less heat, and better performance, I am waiting for it to build my next SFF.

    just my two cents

The CPU will dissipate less heat as it doesn't have a memory controller on it. The chipset will have to dissipate that heat instead.

Expect Conroe to be faster, but not cooler for the overall system.

If you're wanting low power next gen I hear the AM2 EE series will be quite economical.

ok guys, the current state of affairs is this:

    Main Rig:
    3700+ Sanny
    Abit AN8-Ultra
    x850xt-pe

    Media Rig:
    2400+ XP
MSI K4mv (or something like that)
    on-board video

hopefully getting this s939 matx board from buff so ill be transferring the sanny and the x850 over to the media pc and pulling the socket A stuff over to my coolermaster (when it arrives) If i pass my exams, im gonna splash out abit, and upgrade my system. Im not sure whether to sell the Ultra and go AM2 or keep the ultra and just get an oppy or summat. If i can sell the Abit to my bro, or one of me mates, i can get a rebate on the large wad of cash that would be dropped on upgrading as ill need a new cpu, mobo, memory, and graphics card (as the X850 is now in the media rig). Also, as soon as I move my stuff over to the media PC, my watercooling kit becomes redundant, as i cant fit it in the media case. Ive got a Dangerden block up for sale, as i bought it without realising my socket A motherboard doesn't have the mounting holes So if i decide to upgrade to AM2, ill have an abit ultra board, MSI socket A board, 256 megs of ram, and a 2400+ to sell. Any ideas on the price i would be likely to achieve on these components?

Anyone got any thoughts on the matter?

    Cheers,
    Steve
