that is actually insane, would be nice if they could make a one to unlock intel cpus , luckily my t-bred is unlocked on my mobo, tho i imagine that this will solve anyone with a week 40+ barton... is there a price anywhere on that site? i couldnt see one, but i was more interested in reading how it worked

    mark

edit : price is $15 USD, dunno if there are any uk vendors?

that speedstrip thing is just the same as the wire mod... so far wire mod and bridges wont unlock the week 40+ bartons...

Not Wishing to be rude, but Planetside, if you want to stick up a load of pictures boasting about your overclock, why dont you start a new thread? It haas nothing to do with unlocking post week 40 bartons m8!

Link didn't seem to work for me, anyway I haven't had chance to read but here's some more info ...

    http://www.lostcircuits.com/cpu/speedstrip/

    http://www.overclockercafe.com/Revie...trip/index.htm

    http://fileconnect.net/modules.php?n...ticle&sid=3130

If it is nothing/little more than a wire/pin trick then it won't work on the super locked Bartons, it still seems a mystery how AMD are locking them but it is most likely a pretty internal / structural change. As an additional note there are plenty of 38 & 39 Bartons that are locked, only pre 38 week seems certain (?) to be unlocked, chances of being unlocked are tiny with 40 & 41 chips and anything above that will surely be well locked. Buy carefully.

Yup all you need to do is try using another multiplier (pref lower so you know your CPU isn't limiting things) and see if it sticks, may need to set it twice before it sticks on some occasions. Also it is feasible that some multipliers are locked while others aren't. Finally most mobos don't understand the 5th FID bit and as such are limited to a max 12.5x multiplier and can have probs if the stock multiplier is higher. You can check the CPU visually but only as a rough guide, if the manu date is before week 38 2003 (coded 0338 etc) then it's almost certainly unlocked, as you get closer to week 40 chances become slimmer and after week 42 it seems practically all are super locked.
