you are using water as well? if not maybe its the metal, not sure personally

also what metal are you lapping? i found that aluminium never comes up to as nice a shine as copper does.

Is the Premium one only for watercooling? o_0

The odd thing is, 1000 grits get it more shinny.. But you can see more visible lines on it too.
Whereas as soon as I move into microns, it gets less shinny, but the lines are much finer.

I thought microns was just another way to rate higher grits...

If it is only for watercooling... urgh.. might explain ALOT..

i foudn this aswell with my kit from kutompcs, but upto 1500 grit was fine. i think 2000 grit, which made it less shiny, may be.. erm .. crap... so ive used 1500 grit for all of mine, now they are v shiny

I might just have to get some 1200/1500 from my local tool shop..

i was gonna do that.. they didnt sell any thing over 600 though..

tbh it doesnt really make any differnce over 600 grit it becomes not worth the extra effort... unless your going to lap your cpu aswell or are attempting not to use thermal paste, i wouldnt bother.... that said though, i will be making my new home made 9x00 waterblock nice and shiny, cos i wanna see how shiny silver gets

the best place to get high grit wet and dry paper is from an auto paint shop, as they use 2000grit paper for paint finishing.
