    TV-Out on a Laptop with No TV-Out

Well my girlfriend has recently purchased a Toshiba Equium l20 197, yes its a bag of ****. but iv ordered some more memory for it which will solve all but one problem - IT HAS NO TV-OUT. now there are adapters on Ebay etc (example - http://cgi.ebay.com/VGA-to-TV-RCA-S-...QQcmdZViewItem

Now it states "This adapter will ONLY work with VGA display cards that has TV-Out function capability. " but where do i find that information? the laptop uses a ATI Express 200M chipset, so x300 graphics.

anyone attempted this on a similar comp? or any better ideas?

You could ask over in the ATI forum

other than that i have no idea. If that doesn't work you will need a VGA to composite or s-video converter. you can get these from Maplin

Special offer of £29.99 right now

^ That product is for connecting normal AV stuff to a VGA monitor, MadduckUK wants the opposite, I believe.

That's more like what you want, £39.99 when I checked, and uses a USB port for it's power so I'd guess it's pretty much geared towards laptop owners.

That eBay thing is naff, basically it's saying "if your GPU can output S-Video through it's VGA port, then this adapter will work fine". That would only be the case on cards that have a TV-Out already, in which case you wouldn't need the adapter

Or you can build a vga > rgb scart adaptor for about 4 quid, all you need is a vga cable, a scart cable/plug and a (iirc) 10k resistor. Youd obcviously need rgb support on the tv though. Google for the plans, theres loads of sites that detail it.
