Media PC build Intel or AMD?

    All,

I'm building a media PC for the mrs for her birthday.

This machine will not get much heavy use, apart from maybe the odd game like Civilization.

This is what i'm certain on...

    NEC DVD -RW
    256mb X1600 GECUBE DDR2 VGA TV/Out DVI
    160gb Seagate SATA drive
    Media Centre 2005
    Media Centre hardware kit
Microsoft Wireless Desktop Comfort Curve Design Keyboard

Ok now for stuff im unsure

    AMD system

    AMD 64 Dual Core 3800+ S939
    1GB DDR PC3200
    Shuttle SN25P S939 Barebone System

    INTEL System

    Intel Pentium D 930 Sck 775 Presler Core 2x 3.0ghz
    1 GB DDR2 PC5300
    Shuttle SD31P S775 Barebone System

    Price for Intel = £809
    Price for AMD = £817

As Merom/Conroe will be out this July, i would probably replace the Prentium D with that and as S939 is being phased out, i'm leaning torwards S774 Intel.

    What are your thoughts?

    Thanks all

    Darren

That SD31P uses a 945 chipset does it not?
AFAIK, that won't be compatible with Conroe, but I could well be wrong on that?
    Please correct me if so

Oh right? I cant be sure on that?

If that is the case then i'll go for the AMD. (tried and tested)
