Laptop Memory
My mates just asked me if i can upgrade the memory in his laptop for him, and without acctaully commiting myself, if sort of said i would.
- However i acctaully know little about laptops!
The laptops a dell, and accoring to him the memory is "KTD-INSP6000A/1G" memory!
- Googling about the only place i can find selling exactly that is misco at £600+ :surprised:
Its says its "RDRAM/Rambus" (RIMM 184pin 800mhz)
So would i me right in saying any rambus/rimm/pc800 memory would be ok, such as this from scan. (although actaully he wants 1gb apprently)

what is the model of the laptop?

I assume it's a Dell Inspiron 6000?
The one that I bought for my gf uses DDR2 533 - If you download CPUID, or some such program, it should be able to tell you what's in there.
FYI, with the quoted number that you mentioned:

Download Belarc Advisor:

And run the program to check the precise model of laptop you have.
Then punch in the name/model of the laptop into the Crucial memory selector:-

Tada!

I would head over to the Crucial website, and use their tool to find out what type of memory the lap top needs.
If it is Rambus though, you may find it cheaper to buy a new laptop, especially after you have sold the memory currently in it on ebay. There are some Rambus PCs at work and to upgrade the Ram in them would cost £600, so instead the half are being scrapped to provide memory for the other half.
