I may update it september, in time for vista - any opinions on this? I may just leave it and add more HD space, as my system is fairly good anyway - I would just like a dual core CPU file, as my system does crawl when multitasking (zipping stuff etc). Only thing is I'm on 754 now :/
I'm thinking of the conroe route, but am open to suggestions.
It would probably be cheaper to go the 939 dual core route, that way you can keep your RAM.
Yes, but the motherboard would be out dated. Atleast with conroe there's a chance It'll work with quad cores, or even AMD M2.
True but do you need quad core? The way I see it is you can get a good AMD 939 board and Dual Core CPU without getting the RAM. Then if quad core really takes off you can go up to that. If you go down the other route by buying a conroe setup now you may not be able to do quad core and you could then have to buy a whole new setup.
I do see the reasoning...I think I'll have a look at 4800/5000 X2 cores in sept/oct :)
Def. worth waiting till Conroe comes out and AMD sort out their new CPUs, might even be worth waiting till the early reports on quad core are finalised.
You can count the number of games/software that support multi-core on one hand (the one we use anyway) quad-core seems a bit far fetch for casual use.
