Seagate 300 GB External HDD - feedback

    Hi all

I have decided to go with the Seagate 300 GB External Hard Disk - ST3300601U2-RK
as a back up solution for my machine.

Has anyone used these drives and got any feedback? Any reliability issues?

Since this drive will perform as a primary backup device I am not too worried about speed but reliability is a must. My experiecne with Seagate over the years has been very positive hence opting for Seagate as a manufacturer over the others like WD etc.

Also there are a couple of variants and the 16MB cache version are USB2/Firewire while the 8MB cache is only USB.

The 16MB are around the £120 mark delivered - is this a decent price?

    thanks in advance

I can only comment on what I have which is the 400Gb seagate external, 8mb cache and it has both usb and firewire 400.

Running it on usb and it seems to be ok and if the drive is inactive after around 5 mins, it spins down until you need it again...
