    OC'ing not listed in cpuz

i'm currently playin oblivion and i decided to overclock my processer to squeeze a few extra fps but i ran into a problem. Once i overclocked the cpu in the bios and continued to windows the oc is not listed by either my computer or cpuz. I then restarted the computer opened the cpu configuration tab in the bios and it listed the overclock. i then benchmarked the processor using the cpu tests with 3dmark 06 when the cpu was overclocked (supposedly) and at default, i got the same results. I have windows 64 and xp pro (which i just recently reinstalled to try and rectify the problem) on 2 separate paritions and neither list the overclock. I also have the newest bios version installed. I hve had this problem before but it only only lasted a day or so, this time it seems permanent. Anothor strange problem - the processor overclocks fine with clockgen in the os but anything above 2Ghz in the bios and the pc freezes before the boot menu. Any ideas?

Ok people, i have narrowed down the problem, if ye's can still help. This is practically my first time overclocking but after doing alot research, i learned about how important the HHT bus is. In my bois it was set to auto which i have now descovered must be setting it to a default of 5 and thats why my computer wouldn't boot once i increased the freq to 223. I have it now lowered it to 4 and it boots fine. But wait, crisis still not averted! I decided to install asus's ai booster and guss what? it lists the correct new freq and multipler set in the bios and even the new fsb of 892 (Freq: 223 * HTT Multipler: 4) but yet it doesn't seems to be applying this new clock to the processor, it still remains at 1.8Ghz. Al i have to do is click apply and processor immediately overclocks! This is driving me feckin crazy. I refuse to play oblivion until i can get this sorted just so i can truely enjoy it with less choppyness.
