Anyone know if there is a way from the spec of an advert that doesn't specify the revision to work out if a board is the v2.0 or not ?

the revisions from 1.2 and up are all orange PCB's.... 1 and below is not... Also lower than 1.2 does not have CPU socket holes for mounting large HSF's
other than looking with a magnifying glass i wouldn't be sure how to tell the difference between 1.2 and 2 unless it was in my hands :/
Hmmm haven't got a pic just the tech spec of what is on the board
That would work.... if it has soundstorm audio.. that could only be a v2.0
paste the info here
that's not true, all NF7-S's have the same audio.Originally posted by acidrainy

the only way to tell would be to ask them i'm afaid. if it's a newly built pc though it's quite likely to be the v2.0 though.
oh, on second thoughts, if it specifies support for DDR400 and/or a Barton xp3200+ then it will be a v2.0 because only they have Ultra400 certification.

Its the ones Dabs sells. It does say "Supported RAM Speed DDR266/PC2100, DDR200/PC1600, DDR333/PC2700, DDR400/PC3200 ", so does this make it v2 ?

Cool, thanks everyone.
i've had second thoughts now, it is possible the older revisions had DDR400 memory support, but only FSB support up 333, i suggest the best thing would be to e-mail/call them and check.
hehe ok, I've mailed em. Wonder if they work nights !
Most NF7-S that are bought from big suppliers, like Dabs, will be the v2. This is because the v2 came out in April, and the making of the earlier versions were immediately stopped. If they do not know which version it is, then these checks will tell you :-
1) Mounting holes arond the cpu socket. If there, then the version is not a v1.0, it is either a v1.1, 1.2, or 2.0
2) Orange pcb. If it is an orangey colour then it is either a v1.2 or v2.0.
3) Check for any sticker saying nforce2 ultra400 chipset or similar. That would make it a v2.0 for definate.
Basically, there is hardly any difference between the v1.2 and v2.0, except that the v2.0 uses the latest nforce2 northbridge, which is designed for use at 400fsb. The v1.2 is still capable of those speeds, but it is an extra marketing factor. Either of those versions are very good anyway, so be happy
When I bought mine, It was clearly stated on the box that it was Revision 2. Revision 2 is also printed on a sticker near the PCI slots.
Rig1: Asus A7N8X-X | AMD Athlon XP 2600+ @ 2200Mhz | Radeon 9800 Pro | Cooler Master Jet 7 | 512MB Samsung DDR400
Rig2: Abit NF7-S Rev 2.0 | AMD Athlon XP 2500+ | Cooler Master Aero 7+ | Skystar 2 DVB Card | 256MB Crucial DDR333
that's ok if you have the box in your hands or the mobo - but if you are buying online unless they advertise it under the product description your best bet is to ask them - and print out the email you get just in case you end up receiving an earlier rev board.Originally posted by Malteez

Has anyone actually picked up a <2.0 rev board recently? The posts of woe on this certainly seem to be dwindling. 2.0 has been out for a long while now.Originally posted by BlackSheep
