    Pioneer 111D not showing 16x

    Heyas

I just got the Pioneer 111D black dvd rw and am using CDBurnerXP Pro.

for some reason my drive isnt recognised as a 16x speed. Plus it doesnt seem very media friendly.

As I type this I just got a
    ---------------------------
    CDBurnerXP Pro 3 - Critical
    ---------------------------
    Writing Error: (3) Error closing DVD+R Session/Border

The drive is not ready (1002).

Error Sense Data: SENSE KEY: 2 ASC: 4 ASCQ: 7
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

    error.

    Any ideas?
    Yours Truly
    BW

That would be my query too. I have to say, as an original fan of +R over -R, I have not used a +R disk for well over 2 years after a string of failures with them - even when nero reported a successful burn.

i have a 110D and it took the third firmware revision before it was any good

i had to write my 8x media at 4x when it was listed in nero as possible to 12x, if i didnt slow it down it wouldnt work for a single dvd-r

that seems to be how pioneer do it... there is nothing wrong with your drive, they just release them perhaps before they should

    heyas!
Duh! the media was top 8x so thats why it was reporting the drive at max 8x.
I later tried with a cd and it reported max 40x. Thats my bad, I thought that refered to the drive, instead it meant the media.

However (and even though these were cheap dvd+r) it couldnt finish closing the session on them. Gave the above error.

I tried the dvd and it is working for as long as you use a drive that can read unclosed sessions (a dvd burner).

oh well, I guess ill try with a decent brand of media. Plus Ill try upgrading the firmware.

Does anyone else ever had that error by the way?
Reckon its media caused or maybe the software im using?

    Yours Truly
    BW
