ABIT AN7 versus NF7s

Whats the difference between these two mobos?

Is it worth upgrading - better performance?

Thought my NF7 was the dogs danglies so why have ABIT released this?

Its basicly the NF7-S with abits "guru" chip on it.
Save your cash, its really not worth it.

What does this "guru" do?

Gives you lots of control in windows, overclocking, temp monitoring etc. Nice features but I wouldn't bother selling up my NF7-S v2.0 for it.

Yeah, but whats pissed on Abits bonfire is that Nvidia have released a new reference BIOS and the Nvidia utility that does pretty much the same. Many of us over at the official forums (Abits) have a feeling the BIOS wont be updated to support this app. and will be mysteriously incompatible. Ill wait though before i pass judgment.
It does have more options regardless of if they support nvidias app. Still not worth the extra though IMO.
Anyone who has to overclock via windows because they don't like the BIOS, shouldn't be overclocking.

What would be nice, would be an "intelligent" CPU system. It would use your max overclocked chips speed when doing stressful tasks, but for web browsing would lower the CPU speed, FSB and drop the voltage, and to be fancy, lower the CPU fan speed.

In time i should think so, but dont expect to see an overnight effect.
It remains to be seen if this model will replace the NF7-S (it would make sence tbh, provided there isnt a huge difference in price).

ABIT Marketing has already stated on ABIT-USA forum:
"Our R&D has confirmed that NF7-S v2.0 will support the NVIDIA System Utility, however only the standard mode not the Advanced mode."
So no Advanced overclocking page .

You mean like AMD's take on laptop power management, that't would be a damned good idea and I'm suprised its not been done before tbh, most of the time when ur surfin and doing normal stuff a 600Mhz rig would do but when u start encoding DVD's and playing games and stuff then you need more ooompf...

Didnt see that one. And thats really really annoyng. Other manu's. are working with Nvidia so they can use it, Abit have no reason why they shouldnt. Not happy to hear that.

Yup, exactly. There is no reason why this shouldnt be in desktop systems now. I dont see why people need to be running a 3 odd gighz system, when your just browsing the web : Its just silly to use that much power.
