New Mobo.. Graphics Card Experts.. Look in!

Following the help of some of you on here, I've decided to upgrade AGAIN, but this time to PCI-E, and not AGP like I first decided.

My cpu is a Sempron 3000+ s754

I was thinking for a mobo..

And now for the hard part! After hours of doing research.. Im still a bit confused as to what makes a graphics card better than others! lol

Or any other suggestions for the mobo and the card?? For the card, I'm willing to pay about £30 more for a much better one, if it means I wont have to upgrade as soon!

I thought the GS moniker was for AGP cards. anyway, go for the XFX 7600.

As for waht makes graphics cars better than others, it's just like any PC part, biger numbers always win

That's what I thought! lol

First I judged it on the fill rate, vertices etc... Then I discovered the clock speeds... Then the ram types... and now unlockable pipelines?? Wtf comes to mind... lol All rather confusing!

I wouldn't buy a card, just incase you can unlock pipelines, they are usually faulty (hence locked).

7600 is faster than 6600, and 7900 is faster than both.

If you can get a few extra mhz for a few quid go for it, but generally it's nothing you cant do yourself anyway.

Leaning towards the 7600gs.. but the POV with the fan.. The idea of a big heatsink on a grfx card scares me lol

If it helps choosing the card... Main games I play are Pro Evo 5, Toca 3, MOH occasionally.. Im on the search for some new games though

7600 Will handle those games no problem. If you really want to avoid upgrading again, I'd go for a 7900GT, but thats going to be £200 inc VAT.

Forget the 6600GT, they were great in their day (I have one) but their day is passed. Now to add to the confusion

7600GT is much faster than the 7600GS for ~120 quid.

7300GT (note the GT bit) is nearly as fast as the 7600GS but cheaper (same chip but with 4 pixel pipes turned off). If you can find one with GDDR3 memory then it becomes a cut down 7600GT!

I jumped from Radeon 9600 to 7800GT in one build, I missed out a few gens of card

First time I saw the GS moniker, it was on the AGP 7800. I just presumed it was always for AGP. ah well you learn something everyday.
