What will be your next CPU?

What will be your next CPU upgrade?

I'm currenlty running a tbred 2000+ and I reckon it'll do until Summer. So, I plan on upgrading shortly before then (after a new graphics card - can't let down HL2 now can we?)

I reckon an Athlon64, 2nd gen depending on when they come out, or possibly a Prescott - I'll see how the old cost/performance stuff plays out.

Anybody waiting for Tejas? Something else?

I'ed like to vote for Athalon 64.... um, so I will

But in all reality I simply dont know. Probably be 2nd half of 2004 before I even think of wanting anything faster than a couple of 2+gig athlonXP's machines.

I have no intention of upgrading CPU's for a while as my current rigs with XP2400 and XP2500 are plenty fast enuf for now and the forseeable future, gfx on the otherhand is a different matter...

Wont upgrade for a long time, but Athlon 64. As i cant really see anything else topping that for a while, as hopefully the prices will be lower than the P4's.

Having said that, when i next upgrade from (see sig) i wil have to get a whole new system......so that wont be for a while

Feel no need to upgrade for a while - yet to come accross any game where my (lowly) P4 2.4(@2.9) can't cope with. GFX on the other hand....

Strange - my old P1 and P3 boards had 3 processors in each one before they were upgraded - nowadays it seems like I only get 1
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.

There possibly wont ever be cheep EE processors. Intel have said that when they make the move to 3.4ghz, they will stop doing the 3.2 ones so that the EE chip will always be the flagship model. I guess they cant afford to speed bin them with the expensive extra cache that they have.
