Wireless for Shuttle
All,
Building the mrs a Shuttle PC and was wondering what the Wireless adaptors was like for the Shuttle?
I dont want a USB dongle becuase they suck, and i only have 1 PCI port and one PCI Express. The spare PCI for will home a TV card when i get around to it, but i've seen these small adaptors for shuttle systems. What are they like and are they stable?
On the other hand i could get a wirless PCi card and get an external TV card later on?
What would be best?
thanks all
Darren

I think the wireless module for the shuttle attaches to the internal usb headers, and although it has a better aerial than most usb sticks, still has the same cpu load :(
I've suggested this to a few people, but it may be worth getting a wireless accesspoint and using the onboard lan - much more robust and gives you the option of placing it where you can get the best signal. You will then have the ability to add a PCI TV tuner :)

I'm not too worried about CPU load but the strength and stability of the signal.
Will look into your thoughts....
thanks

bump (hate doing this)
Someone must have a wirless enabled shuttle?

I had problems with the signal as my Shuttle is under the TV, cable box and video as a HTPC. I just use a PCI network card, but bought a larger external aerial to replace the little one attached to the card. It attaches via a cable, meaning I can place the aerial high up (behind the TV). The signal strength is always excellent now and hasn't dropped for months.
Something like this, but I got it slightly cheaper off some website.

I have 2 and both are equipped with the shuttle internal solution which connects to the onboard usb headers.
they work great for me.
