    What Motherboard and Gcard?

    Hi all,

I need a new motherboard for a computer i am building. It needs to be compatible for the graphics card below and an AMD Athlon 3500+ (Skt 939). Also, i had a BFG 256mb 7800Gt OC card and was wondering if it is better then the MSI NX7900GT 256mb?

    thanks

    James

Er, is your graphics card AGP or PCI-E?

I would go for the Asus A8n-SLi premium ^^, I suppose the BFG 7800GT OC would be faster but in terms of overclockability would make the 7900GT the better choice (plus its higher numbers means its better ), I would go for the 7900 because of this... as long as you know how to overclock

I'd go for the 7900, should be faster than even the most OC'd 7800, but if you have a 7800GT already might not be worth the upgrade.

so your looking for a s939 with pci-e, any recent one will do.

and i havnt looked but the OC at the end of the BFG's name says to me its running above-spec, so a quick google for both should let you know which has the fastest defult speed.

i havent a clue if either have VIVO but if this is important to you make sure you take it into account

Asus A8N-SLi Premium- motherboard I have, I don't really like it that much but :S

Asrock SLI-32 (2x16XPCIE lanes for best SLI performance) <--- after looking I would go for this one, best price/performance. You could easily go SLi (with 2 x 16 PCIE lanes)(so I would go for the 7900GT since the 7800GT is EOL)

    Asrock PCIE/AGP motherboard

Anyway I hope that this helps

yeh, the BFG is compattible with a SLI motherboard, most cards are.

End of line. it means they dont make them anymore, so if you wanted to run SLi in the future it would be harder to find a second card.

Then again an eBay avvount will probably see you right.
