Memory Issue!!!

I have just got 1GB of Corsair PC3200 Value DDR (2 x 512Mb). I've put this into my system alongside 2 sticks Samsung PC3200 512Mb DDR. Now the problem is that my system is only reading 1.5Gb instead of the full 2Gb i've got installed. I did buy my Samsung memory individually and not as a kit. Could that be why?

run sisoft sandra (or any other program that will identify your memory by slot) to see what one isn't being detected.
Swap the 2 corsair sticks with the 2 samsung sticks and see what one sandra doesn't recognise. If it's the same stick as last time then that stick is dodgy, if it's the same physical socket on the motherboard but a different stick of ram then you have a motherboard problem, possibly!

I checked through SISoft Sandra. My first check revealed that one strip of my samsung memory was undetected and again after I had switched the memory around. This suggests that a strip of my Samsung memory is faulty. But when I only had Samsung memory, both strips worked fine.
