too late btw, fully covered with context:p
although yeah, i wouldnt be too worried. im sure something out of the ordinary happened to that one to make it go boom (saki overload anyone?) although my acer has met with a womans scorne and survived. so possible acer victory there!
It probably doesn't help that dell sell so many laptops...something's bound to happen to 1 or 2 every now and then.
Doesn't make it any more reassuring though :)
I have a deep loathing for Dell laptops bourne from using them, utter rubbish, very bulky, poorly designed, overheat and on one that my sister has the power lead won't even stay in! My advise to anyone would be avoid Dell laptops like the plague, IBM Thinkpads are where it's at, nicely designed, no heat issues, just lovely.
Admittedly the IBM/Lenovo laptops are nice pieces of kit.
I've ordered 20 or so Inspiron's in the past year or so though, and have to say, I'm rather impressed with them, as budget laptops...especially the Core Duo laptops, which I've purchased for about £500.
I've got a Dell 630m - been a brilliant machine for me. Small, quick, solid build quality. Not had any problems so far, including anything heat-related. Much cheaper than anything else from the competition too.Quote:

That is pretty worrying! How frequently do they blow? Make me think twice about using one near the crown jewels on my lap next time! lol
