    System Advice

I'll be building a new system soon, but not sure about a few things. This is the spec:

    Case: Antec P180B
    Mobo: Asus M2N32-SLI DLX Wireless
    CPU: Athalon X2 4200 AM2
CPU HS: Scythe Ninja AM2 (when avaliable) OR Zalman CNPS9500-AM2
    GPU: nVidia 7900GTX
    RAM: Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C4
PSU: Seasonic S12 600W OR Antec Neo 600W
HDDs: WD Raptor 74GB WD740 ADFD & WD Caviar SE16 500GB OR Seagate Barracuda 750GB
    HDD Enclosure (Raptor/Barracuda): SmartDrive 2002C
Fans: Nexus 120mm (x4) - I'll probably need some grommets to mount these. Any recommendations?
Fan Controller: mCubed T-Balancer BigNG (when avaliable)
Sound Proofing: AcoustiPack Deluxe SE (maybe..?)

Would you change anything? Suggestions for the HDD etc are welcome!

    Thanks

CPU is fine, as far as i know AMD are not producing anymore processors with 2*1mib L2 cache so the 4200 is fine. I would go with the 1900XTX, but thats personal preference. Some people will probably recommend waiting a while for AMD to drop their prices when conroe comes out, just depends how soon you want to buy.

Overall looks like a good system quite jealous

It appears you are interested in a quiet system? If so, budget for a decent gpu cooler such as the zalman v900f. Look at the caviar, but make sure it is the new 00MNB0 revision. The 74gb raptor isnt really worth it now, as standard 250gb drives like the hitachi deskstar are near matching it in performance. Go for the 150gb, or dont bother imo. The samsung spinpoint 250gb would be a good choice if you want a second, smaller drive.

The antec p180 has just been revised too, offering a 25mm tricool fan in the psu/hdd chamber instead of 38mm; a fan for the gpus that mounts on the adjacent hdd caddy instead of the fan duct, and an improved front panel. So make sure you get this version.

The seasonic S12 over the neo definately, and again, get the new revivsion as this comes with sleeved cables which are slightly longer and so reduce the problems associated with connecting components in the p180.

grommets for the fans are ok, though i though the p180 comes with some (?). i would suggest something like the rubber mounts that come with the silenx fans. here:-

Acoustipack might not be necessary, and i would build the PC first and add asousticpack later if you feel you need it.

I'd go for the ninja too.

All this said, have you not considered going conroe next month? The E6600 looks to be similar in price to the 4200 but will offer greater performance for similar thermals.
