    Poor 3D Mark 06 Results

    Hi All,

I have just built a new PC and was expecting some great results, however so far I am unimpressed and worryingly I've ony scored 8900 in 3D Mark 06. Having looked on the website some of the top 20 users are scoring 12000 and above.

My specs are as follows -

    AMD FX-60 running a 220MHz = 2 x 2.8GHz CPU
    2GB Crosair XMS TwinX 4000 running at DDR400 2.5, 3, 3, 7
    2 x 300GB Maxtor Maxline III
    1GB XFX 7950 GX2 XXX
    Creative XFI Soundcard
    Abit AN8 32X Mobo
    Windows XP Media Centre Edition

Any help on where I am going wrong would be appreciated.

    James

Have you compared against people with a similar spec PC to yours? The top scores might have faster CPU's and graphics cards...

is your card detected as sli in the nvidia panel? 9000 sounds like only one of them is working. you got the latest drivers and is the pci-e slot that the card is in enabled for 16x ?

Thats the thing the graphics card is the fastest available at the moment and the cpu is only second best to the FX-62! Plus the ones with high scores all seem to have lower spec machines.

It shows up as 2 x 9750 in the control panel. When I fun CPU-Z though it shows as my mobo is running at PCI-X x8 but I can't find any where to change the setting and the mobo says the slots are x16 by default.

wilksj01... they all overclock their computers. You will never have the fastest computer even if you bought the best stuff out, unless of course you bought the best phase change cooling kit and turned your computer room into a giant freezer and then of course overclocked everything (yes even the PCI bus). That is a very good result, on my system I can just about get 6000 (6031 on 3dmark06)

overclock ur cpu tbh m8, 3.2 at least, if doable. Then check again. As said abobe, the top scoing people really know wot there doing and are obsessed wtih benchmarking,. They even sleep on a bench there that addicted

X1900XTX Crossfire will almost certainly beat it & the real 3DMark nuts have really stripped down OS installs & every known tweak specific to 3DMark for improving results.

Actually Crossfire at stock, wouldn't beat it, 06 is heavily Nvidia biased.

    Score is perfectly normal.

wilksj01 - Sorry for the off topic, but do you find the GX2 to be loud under load? I've heard its quiet at idle, but can be quite annoying once the fans start to speed up. What's you opinion? Thanks.

sorry, for some reason i had in my head that it should have been around 15000, so i must have been thinking of 05. i get 8300 in 06 with 2x7800gtx and an opty 165 @ 2600 so it looks about right.
