Media PC Shuttle SN25P - Thoughts?

Dear all,

Here's what i'm going to build the Mrs. (all parts from Scan)

Case Shuttle SN25P Barebone System AMD 939
DVD RW Samsung SH-W163A
CPU AMD Athlon 64 Dual Core 3800+ Socket 939
GPU 256Mb GECUBE ATI PCI-E X1600PRO DDR2 VGA TV/Out DVI Retail
Hard Drive 160 Gb Seagate ST3160812AS Barracuda 7200.9, SATA300
RAM 2GB (2X1GB) Corsair TwinX DDR, PC3200
OS Win XP Media Centre 2005

Then i'll bung in a wireless keyboard and mouse. Probably a M$ one of some kind.

My 2 only worries are...

Will the AMD 939 be ok in a Shuttle?
Is there enough room for the X1600 GPU?

Any other input would be great.

Built something similar for my folks. CPU works no problems. I put in a 6600GT(?) and that fits OK. The SN25P looks and works pretty good.

My Mrs will probaly play a few small games.... (sims etc) Would the X1600 be better suited than the 6600GT?

There is more than enough space for what you want in a sn25p.

The spec looks great but it a bit overspecced as you don't need dual core or 2gb of ram (or an sn25p which is pretty pricey) for a media centre pc. You could easily shave off £300 from that and still have something that performs almost exactly the same.

I definately agree but some people use media centers for gaming. If you are a gamer than I'd get something like an Athlon 3700+ and spend the extra quid on the graphics side.

If you're after a better looking and smaller shuttle for a little cheaper then I'd opt for the ST20G5. Info here: http://global.shuttle.com/Product/Barebone/ST20G5.asp

Thanks for the tip on the ST20G5....

Will the 240W PSU have enough juice to power this kind of system.

Also as the case appears to be a little smaller, would heat still not be an issue?

Oh and one more thing......:-) What would be the best GPU to put in this kind of case. I dont want to put too much heat into this small unit.

I might wait until they release a barebones Shuttle system that can handle the Conroe?
