    Best PSU on 220V...

Hello, I'll be back in Europe in few weeks and from what is my understanding Tagan is doing a good job with their PSUs. I know that Coolermaster is on the same level and i was wondering what would be the best choice betwen an Igreen 430W and a Tagan TG500-U25 (Dual Engine).

Both PSUs offer enough power for my needs but I am not sure which one is better from a capasitors point of view, reliability and clean current output.

It seems that Fuhjyyu capasitors are the ones to avoid... does Tagan use these caps on this PSU?

    Thank You.

Don't forget OCZ. OK, they're expensive, but switching to one sorted a load of problems I was having with my DFI board at the time.

I'm still using the PSU in my second rig - the 480 U01. It works fine and is nice and quiet (consequently runs a little hotter), but I was getting instabilities with my mobo. The DFI is a picky beast at best! Popped in the recomended (and *COF expensive OCZ) and bingo... fine and dandy... ticketty boo..... everything has been peachy ever since!

Understand that the Tagan has worked a treat on the Gigabyte rig... so please don't take this as a Tagan bash!

No idea what capasitors Tagen use, but they're rock solid, the rails don't fluxuate a 100th of a volt on my rig even during heavy loads (like playing UT2004 for e.g.). Also Tagen PSUs autosense input AC voltage, so it'll work in countries that use 110v @60Hz (like the US) and 220v @50Hz (europe) without having to fiddle with a dip switch. Just use the correct standard power lead and hey presto.

Another vote for Seasonic S12, one of the most efficient PSU's on the market, runs cool, deathly quiet and rock solid stability.

I used to own a OCZ Powerstream 600w and to be honest it was noisy, ineffecient and eventually blew up. The new ones are rebadged FSP's so they're actually very good but cost more than the equivalent FSP model.

QFT, had a hiper TypeR before this (S12 500w) and the difference in quality is astounding. The Hiper was generally regarded as a pretty stable PSU, and was fine with my Athlon based PC, got the Seasonic - not only is it quieter but has voltages that are dead on even under heavy load. I probably didn't need the full 500w, but at the time it was the smallest S12 with a 120mm fan, which is much quieter than the 80mm variety.

Well, after a little research I've found that the Akasa 550W AK-P550FH and the Silverstone 650W ST65ZF are the new best on their class and since the price is reasonable for both I think I'll go for one of them!

The Tagan dual engine series TG-500U25 seems to be good too, but I think the new Akasa is far superior! It also comes with potentiometers which make it almost unresistable!

OCZ is good from what people are saying but is not a the level of Akasa, Silverstone and Tagan.
