    Talking Help me optimise my system (please)

    Guess I am impatient.. But I just wanna OC my system now

    I've flashed my bios, make sure that it is stable under prime at default, am running memtest96 now (man, that thing takes AGES, its 20min in already) just to make sure everything is nice and all at stock.

    I remember some of the basics mentioned before..

    - Lower Multiplier.
    - Up the FSB/Mem until Memtest find errors.
    - Increase voltage, then repeat (until 2.7V?)
    - Lower the FSB/Mem by a bit.
    - Increase the multiplier.
    - Prime it.
    - Increase a bit of voltage to get stability (until 1.75V?).

    What other setting in the bios do I need to pay attention? Like memory settings, apertude grill, some ratio thingy etc. etc.

    I'd much appreciate if anyone could give me some more information

    Thanks.

    Yuck...

    Even at 2.7V, my memory isn't stable at 200mhz (end of test #5 memtest96).

    So much for the "with winbond".

    EDIT1: Still stuck at 98-99% at 2.8V. I don't think I'll go above.. Maybe if I relax the timing by a lil..

    Get testing it in windows rather than in memtest.

    Run stuff like the sandra benchmark - that'll stress it and also help you see if slacking off the timings to get a higher fsb have improved or worsened performance.

    What cooling you got?
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    But how would I know if the memory is reliable at the timing/speed?

    I am using an Aero Lite for my CPU.

    Go figures..

    It didn't like 200, so I put it to 210 and it passed test 5!
    1 error in test 6 has caused me to drop to 209.. Which worked perfectly!

    Overclocking is strange o_0

    EDIT: Okay, priming now at 2220mhz (180x12.0). Would prime tell me there are errors if the system is unstable?
    How long does it usually take to notice it?

    Hey, seen as this is an overclocking beginner thread (sorry Toonice ), I was wondering what tools/programs ppl used when overclocking their system and testing for stability, only after I get rid of this rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishe Q-Tec PSU this 2.4C's getting pwned Thx peeps.

    Hey, that was going to be my next question!

    Right now I am using Prime/Memtest for stress tests. I might throw in 3DMarks later just for my own satisfaction (although no doubt it won't touch some of the really crazy scores I've seen around).

    I am also using the Winbond hardware doctor to monitor the CPU/Mobo temperature, some of the voltages, and fan speed.

    What is the program most people seem to use to show their results (multipler, fsb amongs other things)?

    Oh yea. I am on test 5 in Prime.. still no sign of unstability
    And surprisingly, the temperator only went up by 0.5-1C from 1.83ghz.
