    Question Do I have a problem??

    Hey, Switched my computer on last night, and my Power LED didn't come on... Had a look at it this morning, everything seems to be okay otherwise.

    Its just a bit worrying as it just happened all of a sudden, and I'm not sure if thats linked to a hidden problem elsewhere. I have looked at the connection to the LED but it seems okay. The Diagnostic LED thingy on my mobo, says everythings fine as well.

    Has anyone else had this happen to them?

    main sys specs:

    2500+ (not overclocked)
    epox 8rda3+
    msi fx5600Ultra
    Lian Li pc-60
    2x IBM drives

    Any ideas you clever bunch?

    So, when you turned your computer on, it didn't actually turn on, or the power LED just didn't come on? If it's the latter, then the wires connecting the LED to the motherboard may have been loose, that's why it didn't turn on. If it was the former, it happens to me quite regularly, but I have no idea why it does that. To fix it, I just hold the power button on for like 1 minute, then press it again and the thing powers up as usual.

    Oh sorry! No, it powers on okay. Its just the LED that doesn't come on. I have checked the connection to the motherboard, but it all seems okay. The LED doesn't look like its gone either...

    Its probably not a serious problem at all, but still...

    Cheers

    Does the HDD activity LED still work? In which case put the power LED on that header instead - to check it.

    It might be the circuit for the power LED that's pooched - I've seen it happen before.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Okay, looks as tho the connection to the LED is a bit screwed. Just going to have to resolder it back. Not impressed, seeing as tho its only 3 months old... hmmm

    Have you got a multimeter ? if you do its a sure way to check if the connection is screwed or not ...
    I got one of the little yellow ones for £5 from maplins, a bargain really

    EDIT: you can even use them to check the power output of your PSU, shows me that the MSI monitor readings are wrong and that it is suplying around 12V rather than the 11.4/5 the msi monitor says.
