Which is the Best Power Supply??

Hi all,

Which is the best power supply in this lot? And in what order would you put
them in?

PC Power and Cooling Turbo-Cool 510 Express

OCZ 600 watt psu

SilverStone ST60F

Silverstone ST65ZF 650W

Thermaltake 680W PurePower power supply

Seasonic S12 600 watt

Enermax 660

Thermaltake 680W PurePower power supply is the best out of your list. Where is the Enermax choices?

PC Power and Cooling is the best.

Question is, best for what though? Certainly not for a silent system!! But the tolerances, rails & warranty are the best in the business.

Did you look at the Hexus PSU roundup?

For stability and effeciency the seasonic is supposed to be best, according to CPC a few months ago.

Was very highly rated. Silent too.

What specs are you looking to run it with? 600W is overkill for anything short of sli 7800s and an X2. Im a big fan of tagna 480w units, right in the sweet spot price/performance wise imo

I have no problems with the odd post here and there from manufacturers, especially when 100% relevant to the topic!! (and not shoved down your throat) Infact, i'm glad to see they actually read here!

forget the enermax is all i can say (i have the noisetaker 425w)

Im my experience: Enermax = dodgy rails

Plus ive heard the failure rate isnt too great either.

It's funny about dodgy rails. I thought my PSU was a bit low on the 12V line (within spec, but a bit low). But after changing (RMA) the mobo it now seems fine. Makes me wonder how often the PSU gets blamed and it's maybe not the PSU's fault.

That said the only Themaltake PSU I had was very low on the 12v rail (11.5-11.6) with two different mobos. Wouldn't get one again.

I have check the FSP 700power supply and it looks really good, pitty they dont sell it in Australia

My specs will be 2 gig of ram, (1 for now) Leadtek 7800gtx 512, Audigy 2,
motherboard undecided, cpu undecided, case will be the coolermaster 830
stacker, and power supply undecided

From that list I'd probably go for the PC Power and Cooling Turbo-Cool 510 Express, they are excellent quality.

Thermaltake psus are fairly poor. It may have 680w but its probably all hidden in the 5v rail and so its useless.

OCZ psus aren't so bad, worth a look too. Best thing to do is get googling as those psus are less common in the UK so you won't get many first hand opinions here

PC Power, but there supposed to be quite loud.

id go with the OCZ or the Enermax, but id get a 520Watt OCZ, plenty of power, lot cheaper.

Seasonic is the best there and the most efficient as well. Gets great reviews everywhere. Im getting that exact psu u mentioned.
