seems i'm better off spending another £50-£100 for a core 2 duo cpu.

will see what stock is like when i get paid

    Take time and check around.

Scan is a good place for buying things and also they have delivery free.

Conroe is not in its website.

I'm waiting to see that stock on 24/07

All Pentiums are 64 bit, so no need to worry about that.

If you can push your budget up a bit further, then a 6300 will definitely be a good idea. You're going to end up spending around £120 for a motherboard that can support it, though, as the value-segment motherboards for Conroe won't be out for a while still.

If you're looking for something sooner rather than later I'd recommend the Asus Pundit barebones system. It is less than £100 and includes mobo, PSU, gfx, case, HSF, and is getting some great reviews (that I can back up as I own one)

slightly over budget, but should be a kick-ass system
chazt, thanks for that i'm gonna go for that i think, maybe change the case but other than that it looks tops, just seen on tomshardware you can overclock the 805 easy, upto 4ghz, i'll be happy at 3.0/3.2ghz

    thanks

will save £100-£150 on a conroe PC.
