Hard drive died today, anything cool to do with it?

Just that today I was during mass trasferring with it and I think it just got a bit worn out and died - froze the computer, and started clicking. Then everytime I booted the computer up with it, the harddrive or something would beep continuously and the drive will keep clicking...

Anyways I'm pretty sure there's no way to ressurect it, it's past its warranty so what shall I do now? I'm SOOOO tempted to open it up and oogle at the platters

Just open it up however you will probably need a small trox screw driver or even a secure torx.

Friend of mine has a platter from an old 2GB hard disk on his keys. So that's one thing I guess.

I vote for clunks idea! What a cracker it is Make sure you hit them hard enough to make the drive fall to pieces, then you get to see inside too.

Well seeing as violence is taken. Platters make real shiny coasters and magnets are just cool. Especially uber strong ones

me and my Uni roomate used the platters as coasters for the year we lived together, 'twas a great conversation piece when people came round!

I remember the platters from the really old drives back at school, they were massive almost like vinyls they were a pain to keep clean though

Yeah took the big sticker off the top, and realised my tox driver is too big oh knoes!
