9800 Pro or X800 Pro?
Hello,
A bit of advice would be gratefully received.
Just had an e-mail from Retek with prices for 9800Pro and X800 pro cards, £71.61 and £113.39 respectively. I know the X800 is going to be better, but is it £40-odd better? Will there be a marked improvement over my current 9700Pro? Both cards are the 256mb variant.
Also, if I were to go for one of them, what could I expect to sell my 9700 for, to balance the argument?
Thanks

Tbh.. both prices are a tad too expensive..
9800Pro will only be marginally better than ur 9700Pro..
Although the X800Pro will be alot faster.. its not worth £113.39.. If its £80 then go for it..

Ah, OK. I'll carry on searching then.
Thanks

right never pay more than 60 for a 9800 pro, your card is worth 35-40 and the x800 should deffo be under a hundred but its alot bettter

I'm not sure how the specs go on these things.
Is the GTO better than the Pro?
Cos for the price of the retek one, I can get a GTO elsewhere...

i thought that the only good thing bout the gto was that it unlocked to be a pro so therfore u may aswell buy a pro? thats what i think is right anyway it unlocks to something maybe an xt or something watever the best variant of the x800 series was

the sapphire gto2 cards are actually x800xt / x850xt cores which are guaranteed to unlock (an extra 4 piplines to 16)
the stock speed is a lot lower but it usually overclocks to x800xt speed easily and often even x850xt pe
but a gto is slower at stock than a pro or xt, xt being the fastest of all
