I need a 1 2.5" enclosure that shows up/acts as a usb pen drive

I don't think the one i do now does, as it wont show up in the PS2 like other pen drives

Does anyone know of an enclosure that definitely does interface properly?

Does yout drive let you add more power to the unit? Could be the PS2 isn't supplying enough juice.

How about file system? What is it formatted as?

Might be that the PS2 can't handle anything other than FAT16 and 2GB partitions.

It has a double USB socket on one end that i've tried, so it should be getting enough power, the green led shows up fine on the enclosure and it feels like its spinning alrite.

Its formatted as NTFS, but i've tried to format it and windows won't let me format it as anything else, do i need a special windows app to do it?

If it is that the Ps2 possibly can't handle more than 2GB FAT16 partitons, do you know if it would be possible to create a 2GB FAT16 partition on my 60GB NTFS drive? Solely for use on my PS2, and then have the rest of the space for my music back up as it is now.

I have all mine at single NTFS partitions, but i've never used any on an PS2.

There is no way a PS2 is going to read NTFS, so that is the first problem solved.

In Disk Administrator, delete the volume and make sure the disk is set up as a Basic Disk. Then you should be able to create partitions of FAT FAT32 and NTFS. Win2K and XP will only let you create a 32GB FAT32 partition at the most (silly limit imposed my MS for no good reason).

For more flexability in managing your disk, look at Disk Director from Achronis or the old favourite, Partition Magic.

What are you trying to save or read from the Hard Drive?

I think the problem is that normal usb pens show up as removable drives, where as usb hard drives are seen as local drives.

Ok what you need to format the drive as fat32 as Funkstar said. You can use a little uttility on this page to format your 32GB+ drive in windows as fat32 - http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/ind...at32format.htm

Forget what I said above, as long as it's formatted as fat32 it should work.

What software are you using to playback the video files? SMS Version 1.7 should work well.

I think i have 1.7, and yes, i'm using SMS.

I was using an xbox to play DivX but that was its only purpose.

I'm lost, what does this mean:

Click Start->Run and enter cmd. CD to the where you extracted the fat32format exe, e.g. by typing CD /D c:\

I've used the cmd feature before, but then i'm lost

Basically you need to extract the fat32format.exe to your windows drive for example the root of your C drive.

Then Start > Run and enter "cmd"

Then you should get something like "C:\Documents and Settings\User>" in comand prompt.

Type "cd\" which will take you to the root "C:\>"

Then type "fat32format.exe f:" - replace f to whatever drive letter you USB hard drive is.

Make sure you've done the first step of running windows disk management first and partition the drive and assign it a drive letter (use this drive letter to replace "f" as above) but do not format.
