    SD Card trouble :(

I bought a Datawrite 1gb sd card to use with my Garmin C510 GPS - I put it in and it asked if I wanted to format. Clicking yes, it went through the motions but right at the end it bailed saying it was unable to complete the format.

Next I tried my 23-in-1 card reader, still the exact same.

Then I stuck it in my Nikon Coolpix 4600. It also wanted to format the card, but completed sucessfully. I took some photos, and that worked ok.

I put the card back into the Garmin, it asks if I want to format.
I put the card into the reader, it can see the photos, but the card is permanently write protected (yes I checked the wee tab)
I hooked the camera up via usb, all working normal

    Any ideas what's going on?!?

iv had nothing but good fortune witht the old SD cards. even dropped one in a puddle one time and after a quick bout in my pocket it worked perfect. id send it back and get a neamed brand. im sure there wouldnt be much of a price premium. make sure the GPS actually suppourts 1GB or higher cards tho. sure it will so thats just to be on the safe side

Yeah, think I'm just going to try a RMA and get a Sandisk. Apparently the GPS supports up to 2GB.

DataWrite are supposed to be good cards but it sounds like you've just got a duff card.

Just out of interest after formatting it in you Nikon, put it back in your card reader and check how the cards been formatted, most digi-cams format to either FAT12 or FAT16, then try copying 1Gb worth of data to the card to see what happens.
