    180 £ or a new 17" monitor?

Hi all i am tired of my old 15" Tft monitor so i am moving it to my older pc.

i have bout 180 £ to spend on a new 17" (don’t like 20”+ or widescreen) so any idea what sort of monitor can i get?

i have seen this Xerox some time ago... 8ms, glass screen but the price went down to 159.00 so it probably means its outdated

    So any good tips?

If you want a reputable brand and a low ms rate then this is for you.
3ms response time, can't really go wrong, and I know people with setups that have two of these on them and they swear by them.

Personally I like something 19" or above

do you honestly have a medical case for not liking these, in which case ill shut the hell up. or is there another reason? cause i wouldnt go less than 20" of LCD. and that would have to be widescreen.

    "dont like" sounds fishy.

Buy an AG Neovo F-419 19" TFT, I have the old model and it's great. The new model is the same but with a faster panel.

Heard a few good things about Dabs Value ones, or rebranded digimate ones, should leave you with about £60 notes spare. Tempted to get one myself but then again the Dell 20" WS or the new Viewsonic 22" WS also look tempting.

WOW its just my impression or the price on monitors went way down?!?!

Last time I checked bout 4months ago u couldn’t get a decent 17” bellow 130 quid, now u show me a 19” Dell for 135? Hum wait… one year warranty with some minor scratches on the back, not the sort of stuff that makes u rush for it… still good value but I kinda give huge importance to warranty, lost my laptop 2 weeks after my warranty expired

The Viewsonic seems good not the prettiest thing on the market but the 3ms do the business, my mate had one but he was always complaining with the colours being dull any comments on that Viewsonic owners?

hum... dont know... not sure never LiKeD big screens for me 19" is the last frontier, when i moved from my huge CRT to my 15" tft i loved it. The pc is in front of my bed so i dont see the any point having such a big thing.

i also like to play some oldies, imagine how X-COM, Death Rally, worms 2 , Warcraft and other old blizzard games would look on a 20+ screen.

    sry double post...

I have tried a few different TFT's and the Xerox XAP 17" is a stunning TFT. Awesome picture quality, superb colours and no dead pixels etc, all protected by a glass screen! Get one, you won't be disappointed.

I've played quite a few old games on my LCD and you'd be surprised how good they look actually.

A bigger monitor is nothing to be afraid of, I'd say defiantely give at least a 19" a try, it's well worth it, even from a desktop real estate point of view.

20" is better because it's typically higher res. 19"'s are usually 1280x1024 same as 17". So you get larger pixels, not more.

Of course to run 1600x1200 you need a decent PC too.

I went from a 17" CRT to a 20" Dell widescreen... Never looked back, seriously, it makes so much difference having the space.

You should get the 19" if its so cheap.
