    DFI - what CPU HSF??

    I have a 939 3700+:

I have a AC freezer 64 pro ATM however i also have an AMD FX60 retail cooler.

The problem with the freezer is that because i have a DFI ultra-d the cooler blows hot air either up or down the case, instead of out the back.

Would it be better to use the retail cooler (which i understand is pretty good) or the freezer.

However is the AMD gunna be louder?

PS i also have a fan duct off an AKASA Eclipse 62 (i dont have this case though) which i coukld use with the ADM akaik.

    Thanks

The Freezer64 is suppose to be a lot better than the stock heatsink.

I had tried the heatsink so I knew it does block, but not too badly.

It affected my temperature around 1~2 degree. Not bad enough IMO.

The fan duct (I have that as well) is not going to fit the heatsink since its a standing layout rather than the conventional layout (i.e. XP-90) so it won't fit. Moreover the Heatsink is so tall that your fan duct wouldn't fit anyway.

Why would the duct not fit the AMD cooler?

And what do you mean block?

You mean the stock cooler then yes the duct will work. The freezer's fan should be a bit more quiet than the one on the stock heatsink IMO.

I mean the freezer close to blocking the gfx, sorry

The freezer cause no problems with the gfx, the problem is that the air is mean to be sucked through the cooler and then blown out the other side, and in turn out of the case via the back fan. This does not work on the DFI as it has a strange CPU position therefore the air is blown up to the psu which gets very hot may i add.

The AMD HSF i have is the very nice quad heat pipe cooler which is meant to be good (looks like an xp-90 in design)

Im pretty sure the freezer is the better cooler normally but it may not be best in my situation

    thanks

The Zalman 9500 & Scythe Ninja Plus can be orientated to exhaust to the rear with any type of 754 or 939 mobo.

The freezer 64 pro's fan blows into the heatsink not suck. I've had the fan on the side closer (I mean very close oops) to the gfx.

It sounds like your one is facing up down as well, ideally the fan is supposed to face the front of the case, whereas ATM mine is facing either the top or bottom of the case which makes for bad airflow.

but if the flow is upwards in my case, the fan on the bottom of the psu would capture the air flow

True but it buts extra strain on the PSUs cooling and they already get quite hot!! Also my PSU has 2 80mm fans not a single 120.

EDIT: Im just telling you what AC recomend anyway
