Acer Ferrari 4000... buy now or wait for new 5000 model?

So I totally have my heart set on the Acer Ferrari 4000. It's loaded with features and looks sexy to boot. However, with the Ferrari 5000 round the corner, is it worth waiting for the newer dual core model?

My budget is about £900, so I'd be looking at the 4003WLMi (Turion 1.8GHz). But maybe prices will drop on the 4000 range when it is no longer top of the line? However on ShopAcer.co.uk and other places the price of the model I want is climbing :confused:

So I guess I'm just looking for a bit of guidance on what to do... any help would be appreciated!

I would definately wait for a dualcore model... ive recently switched from a dell latitude D610 to a D620 (same spec but dual core) and the performance is awesome... ive been able to ditch my desktop now because the core duo is such a good performer :bowdown:

lol sounds like an awesome plan, but the Ferrari 5000 is weighing in at around £1500, which is way over budget :(

I am not sure if the price will drop as it has been rising since end of may ish when the cheapest model was about £800. I assume this is as they no longer make them [I assume] so they are hard to get hold of and as the 5000 will me so much more expensive I doubt it will compete and so lead tto a drop in price.

So you reckon wait till Xmas-ish and see if the Ferrari 5000 drops down closer to the £1k mark?

The price will drop, but by then it will be shall I wait for the 6000 to come out, the eternal buy now or wait quiestion.

Does it have to be the Acer ferrari?

Tbh any machine with core duo will spank anything singlecore (belive me coming from a comparitive power single core machine)
i really would consider an alternative... 7200rpm disc + core duo are essentials
