    It's a shame retailers can't........

.......offer a bios flashing service for new board purchases.

With the constant changes in the hardware world the consumer would have an easier time if the stores could flash bios for you for a small service charge.

Lots of the recent 775 boards are useless to many folk who want to go Conroe but don't have a chip to flash bios with.

A bios flashing service would guarantee out of the box compatibility and make buying decisions easier.

    Tis just a thought

    Scan will for a fee.
I would think that people like Kustom & Tekheads probably would too.

Some stores do...I believe if you ring Scan up when purchasing, you can get a member of their tech team to flash a board with the latest BIOS if you ask nicely (and for a small fee )

I might be totally wrong, but don't ASUS boards come with that little program for use in Windows that updates your BIOS for you?

which is all fine & well except when the board won't boot because the CPU is unsupported by the BIOS on the board ... no Windows.
