    Blowhole Disaster

Ok - so I've just made an a*** of a blowhole using an electric jigsaw. It was meant to be 114mm for a 120mm fan (attached to an Asetek radiator) with an alu grill on a Lian Li PC70 but it's more like 130mm. Alcohol's a terrible curse
It's not quite a circle so you can still drill the holes for the alu fan grill but no matter where u drill them there's a space (gaping hole) on at least one of the sides of the fan

    What to do?

A:Chuck the case away and start again
B: Get some good quality sticky back plastic and cover the entire top of the case

I can't b the only 1 to make an a*** of this - so all advice is welcome. If anyone recommends B lemme know where to get the covering stuff.

    Thanks.

You could wait till sober and turn it into a top window project......
if you wanted the blowhole later you could get one cut into it with a proper holesaw....

EDIT: i think you can get a kit from coolcasemods.com and ask them to predrill a blowhole in the top... this way you should get the best of both worlds... Alto they do some really nice thin, flat, silver lining for the window

I got other cases - he problem is that I luv the PC70 so if I can save it I will.

The modding problem with this particular alu server case is that the top panel doesn't detach so I had to cut the hole whilst attached to the case and I'm crap at DIY. It's a huge case and I had decided to stick the water radiator at the top with a 120mm fan on each side of the radiator - one sucking in from the top and one blowing out from the bottom.

If I could get a 240mm x 120mm rectangular alu grill I would fix it to the top of the case and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. The trouble is that 120mm is the biggest standard grill size.
I might give Coolcasemods or Kustom PCs a ring and see if threy'll do me a special outsize grill.

    Thanks for the advice

the top is held on with 4 rivets, drill them out (carefully!) and the top will come off makes life much easier....

Ceryndrion m8 you're a star!! I'll order the big grill this afternoon.

Thanks to evrybody else for the advice

Woody - drills and saws don't seem to agree with me. If I'd tried to take the rivets out with a drill who knows what carnage I'd create
