    Question New Conroe Build

    Hi all,

It's that time again for me to upgrade. I'm going to keep a couple of things from my old machine as it's the wrong time to upgrade them.

Things that i have already are a 160gb SATA Maxtor drive and a XFX 6800GT. I wont bother upgrading the GPU until Direct X 10 is out.

Please let me know where i could improve or save a few quid.

    That is one WILD case.

You might be able to shave a few quid off the DVD writer by getting something like LG or NEC

Yeah i thought i'd go for some wacky this time. I considered the Isotope the last time but it couldn't hold a full ATX mobo. The only downside is that i cant duplicate cd's with 2 drives. Dont really do that much anyway.

Well im not 100% on the case yet, I might just keep my Gaming Bomb 2 case.

I'm a little worried about air flow through the Isotope case and im not sure it will handle a Zalaman heatsink cooler.

I think watercooling is overkill for someone like me.

Dabs have them listed as 1-2 weeks, that's the best I've come accross.

doesn't sound too bad tbh. I just hope Intel haven't underestimated the demand for these chips and they all go out to reserved clients before I reserve mine. [should be tonight].

G80 is a few months away, R600 is Novemeber/Xmas time. Long time to wait IMO, with a 6800GT. Buy a X1900XT now, and don't buy the stupid case.

The PSU may be a bit too weak if you'll ever want to get an SLI system, since next gen (DX10) video cards are said to require an awful amount of power.

Just a minor thing, but didn't the 80mm Sharkoon 1000 get slated in this months CustomPC mag? apparently it just doesn't move much air. I seem to remember they said the 2000 was much better and still really quiet.
