Asus P5W-DH Dead Already?

as part of my ongoing curse, my newly installed motherboard has decided to die, before i RMA it, does anyone know if there is something i have missed.

when it died, i had just installed windows, and then the drivers, and i had powered off to plug in a network cable, tried to power on, and nothing, just the green led on the motherboard flashing really fast. so power is getting to the board, but no boot.

i bought a celeron 326d to tide me over, i wonder if thats dead.

i have had the battery out of the motherboard and cleared the cmos, unplugged everything and plugged back in, still nothing.

anyone any idea what this is please?

You might of overvolted the celeron accidentally,

One thing that sometimes works on dead mobos's, Set the jumper to clear CMOS, power on, jumper back to normal back to clear CMOS a few times.

Also try turning the power supply on and off a few times while it's unplugged to drain all the charge out of it.

And good old leave it unplgged for a while and come back to it and it'll magically work.

Damn, thats bad luck

CPUs very rarely die, although its not unheard of. I'd lean towards the mobo, especially if your not getting any beep codes.

As someone else said, trying clearing CMOS, although I'd guess you've already been there and done that.....

i hope it is the celeron thats dead to be honest, itll save a lot of messing around, but im not sure how i could have overvolted it, it detected it fine, and the box says it supports it, so i dunno.

yep, just googled a few myself...just my flaming luck that, would have been more miffed if it killed the conroe.

Looks like my P5B is DOA as well.


First time I powered it up I got the beep but only a flashing cursor in the corner of the screen......have had that once more since but otherwise its just spinning fans

I Always get bad mobos, ASUS are the worst, they never work for me.

Get a Gigabyte DS3, rock solid and worked 1st time.

Stick with DFI the you know in advance it will break.
