    My godamn motherboard/case combination

    Hey guys ..

I recently purchased my new pc case..
I decided to go for the coolermaster wave master..
I know it may not be as good as some other cases but i LOVE the way it looks and how well its built..

    But..
    There are some problems..
I cant get my god damn motherboard onto the motherboard tray correctly ..
Well i screw it on .. but i have to bend the motherboard a bit so that the normal sized screws actually screw it in ..
I have to bend it because it has a huge plastic thing at the bottom that holds the cpu socket in place preventing me from getting the thing flat down ..
So when i go to put my soundcard and graphics card in the clips at the top dont reach the thing on the case.. because the motherboard has been bent lower.. This is really quite irritating..

Is it possible to just get some larger screws so that the hole motherboarrd can stay at the same level . or will it just collapse under the weight.. I dno .. if anyone else has had the same problem my motherboard is a dfi lanparty ultra d nforce 4 ultra... . I need confirmation so i can go out and buy some new screws asap and get this goddamn pc up and running..

Sorry if this is stupid question .. Dont to this stuff often , funnily enough ..

    Cheers ,
    free

I don't know much about building computers however, if something is ment to be bent it comes bent, i think you are risking damage by bending and forcing a fit,

I'm guessing you forgot to use the standoffs (little brass things). Screw them to the tray and then screw your motherboard to them, If it still works

they could be floating about inside the case, or come housed in a separate box that you got with the case

Presumably if you actually got it in and screwed down, you'd risk making contact between the electrical circuitry and the motherboard tray, and hence the case?

    So it'd be live, right?

Think you've been a bit lucky it *didn't* fit mate!

Yeah the new ones are round. Pretty sure the old ones were a wacky design with legs and stuff.

you should really use the stand offs to ensure the mobo is suffieciently clear of the case

tried the retailer of the board you bought from?

otherwise try the manufacturer for them ?

Ok these are what your looking for:

    or

    1) Screw these into your motherboard tray, remembering the placement of the holes in your motherboard.

    2) Now place you motherboard ontop of these standoffs and secure with the correct screws.

If you need a more in-depth guide for installing a motherboard with various other components then check HERE

    Hope this helps

    Oh yeah almost forgot.

I doubt your friend has it screwed directly against the tray, otherwise his system would have definatly shorted out. So no it wont work this way, although be my guest if you want to have alot of useless hardware on your hands...

    Agreed with Hullz.

Screwing your MB directly into the case is inadvisable at best.

Standoffs should come with the case, so just re-check first that you don't have them anywhere...in a compartment in the case, or in the bag of screws etc that must have come with it. If you're having no luck, I'd advise to contact your retailer and ask them to send a pack, if/when you're sure it didn't come with them.
